Equality Illinois Endorses Quinn for Governor

The Windy City Times reported that the Political Action Committee of Equality Illinois has endorsed Pat Quinn for re-election as governor. Equality Illinois is the state’s leading LGBT advocacy organization. The group announced its endorsement when Quinn appeared at Northalsted Market Days, a street festival in Chicago.

The Windy City Times reports that Quinn reiterated his commitment to signing a civil unions bill into law and said he believes that the bill can be passed this year. The endorsement can not have been a difficult decision. Quinn’s opponent, State Sen. Bill Brady, has stated his opposition to LGBT rights in general and has advocated amending the state’s constitution to restrict marriage to opposite-sex couples.

  1. Stop Bill Brady! Says:

Bill Brady’s extremism on these issues extends far beyond marriage equality. He even had the audacity to oppose prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation for loans and housing.
